Origin The official foundation session took place on November 14 , 1958 at the Bruges city hall. During the first general meeting , on January 28, 1959 its first chairman, Canon J.Dochy, and the members of the Board of Directors were appointed.
The statutes were published in the Official Journal at the end of January 1959. Objectives The objective of the association is double: to increase the Bruges musea inheritance and by different means make the public aware of the musea and their activities.
The Bruges City Musea Friends support the musea at several levels. Through sponsoring important purchases they enable us to enlarge the Musea collections.
We cooperate in all possible ways: such as carrying out public-focused activities, promoting cultural life in Bruges and especially the interest in musea.
The number of members of this association, their financial inputs and the selfless support of the volunteers represent a vital importance to reach our objectives.
